Although this isn't our personal story, it was shared in a recent news article:

"Timmy was considered one of those problem children in school. he never sat still, had trouble following directions, and often blurted out in class.

His parents visited the principals office on behalf of their worrisome progeny often; you can imagine their heartache and disappointment. The embarrassment overwhelmed them such that Timmy was constantly on restriction and reminded of how "difficult" he was.

That winter break, Timmy's mother received an unexpected progress letter from his teacher which staggered her. 'Your child is one of the best behaved in my class,' the letter began, and continued to mention acts of courtesy, respect and joy. Timmy's mom and dad congraulated him and began to treat him with smiles and praise throughout the ensuing spring semester.

More letters followed from the teacher regarding Timmy's change in behavior. He even began to like school.

By the time of the mid-term Parent Teacher's conference, Timmy's mother was anxious to meet the teacher who had turned his life around. At the conference, Timmy's teacher met his mom shaking her hand and exclaiming, 'You've done an amazing job with your son.' Tommy's mom, of course, praised his teacher. Both were puzzled. After a long discussion Timmy's mom mentioned the letter she had received the previous semester. Both were flabbergasted to find that there had been a mix up and that letter was meant for another child..."

that is an awesome story. Thank you for sharing. It is a gentle reminder that our children will meet our expectations of them whether good or bad.

This story brought tears to my eyes. How that little boy must have felt to suddenly be showered with praise...is it any wonder that it changed him?? Thank you for sharing and reminding me again that I am a mirror to my kids and must reflect a good and loving image if I want them to see it in themselves.
