The city of Tucson adopted the Nurtured Heart Approach in the year 1999 and has successfully used it ever since. The data they have collected for the 3,000 underprivileged children they serve each year confirms that in this time period they have not needed to send a child for a diagnostic assessment or medication services at all. They use the Approach class-wide and in addition to feeling that the Approach helps all the children to flourish it has helped them to help the at-risk children to do well within the classroom setting without needing outside services.
Lisa Bravo, M.C., L.P.C., L.I.S.A.C., N.C.C., is the Founder of ParentWoRx Consulting. She is a highly acclaimed internationally recognized motivational speaker, published author, college professor and therapist. Lisa is an expert in the areas of parenting, behavior management, mental health counseling, crisis, and chemical dependency. Lisa is considered an expert clinician in treating ADD, ADHD, ODD, OCD, ASD, FAS, RAD, and other disorders with behaviorally based components. She has trained thousands of clinicians, educators and parents on how to implement the Approach. She regularly facilitates the Advanced Training Certification Program in partnership with Howard Glasser at workshops throughout the country. - Identify the character traits of the difficult child
- Discuss the attributes of intensity and how to help the difficult child process intensity in efficient and successful ways
